How might your life have been different if there had been a place for you, a place for you to go to be with you mother, with your sisters and the aunts, with your grandmothers, and the great- and great-great-grandmothers, a place of women to go, to be, to return to, as woman?
How might your life have been different?
Judith Duerk, “Circle of Stones”
I find myself pondering this question over and over. “How might my life have been different if I had a place to goto, to be, to return to, as a woman? Simply put I could exhale. I could plan and rely on those plans to just sit, maybe laugh, learn or share, but just be. What a relaxing thought. As I think now I would give anything to spend just a few more moments with my grandmother and even just meet my other grandmother. What a treat.
With reverence for Mother Earth and for you sisters, it is with great honor that we will be offering the Sister Moon Lodge.
Traditionally, in times not so long ago, when we were living closer with the Earth’s rhythms and each other, Moon Lodges were sacred spaces, symbolic of a womb, where women would gather to honour and celebrate the powerful & intuitive time of their cycle during the dark of the moon. By entering the Moon Lodge, they stepped away from the doing-ness of family responsibilities and entered into the sacred realms of being-ness to rest, dream, nurture each other, receive spiritual insight, and practice rituals. Upon emergence from the Moon Lodge, women would feel deeply nourished, re-invigorated and ready to offer their gifts to their community with creative renewal, embodied wisdom and purpose.
I like to believe it is a sanctuary.
My first Moon Lodge was Lakota based. It resonates in my heart to this day. The women I met. The ceremonies we held. The crafts, books, knowledge and food we shared. And all around being women. How unique this was for me. How extraordinary.
In the rapid pace of modern living, the Moon Lodge/Red Tent is returning as we rise in remembrance of our feminine power and the sacredness of our womanly moontime gifts.
Our Moon Lodge at Inner Light will serve in a few different ways. It will be our designated space for sharing many of the skill, ceremonies, and holistic therapies that celebrate the continued learning and embodiment of the Divine Feminine. We will also have scheduled a Moon Time, where you can go to journal, read, meditate, rejuvenate and/or simply rest in quiet space. With reverence, we will harness the Moon energy to plant personal, collective and Earth prayers, crafting our dreams and weaving our heart offerings for the next lunar cycle as we emerge from the Moon Lodge.

I envision this lodge as a nature based gathering similar to the Lakota lodge, and The Red Tent. Shamanic. A time for us, like and unlike-minded women seeking empowerment, transformation and the realisation of our innate connection to the Divine Feminine. To meet on or around the new moon of the solstice and equinox. Where we will engage in sharing a common theme. We will strengthen and heal each other with our stories, our gifts and talents, our weaknesses, our hopes, and our dreams; gathering to experience our authentic selves; empowering ourselves, evolving together.
